Goizueta Case Competition Update

, Grant McClure BBA14, Somon Nader BBA14, Lalit Janak, BBA14 won the Goizueta Private Equity Case Competition organized by the Alternative Investment Club, under the direction of Professor Klass Baks. They created a LBO model for World Point Terminal, an oil storage company.

Ali Jooma BBA12 and Andres Chavarria,BBA12 won the Emory Siperstein Business Plan competition for their InovHab Container Homes plan which focused on providing affordable and durable homes to the low-income population of Costa Rica and giving them a sense of ownership through their home-buying process.

Steven Burgess BBA12, Giovanni Hobbins, Nir Levy BBA14, Ian McCall and Pat Shea BBA12 represented Goizueta at the Queen’s Entrepreneurs’ Competition  which took place  January 19- 21 in Toronto, Canada (pictured).  Sixty business plans were submitted and 16 were selected for the finals. Their business plan, Campus Bubble, a company that produces online university portals that bring together student media and business offerings, will continue to receive support in the form of the QEC’s Solutions Award: $10,000 in- kind in small business consulting services from Inceptive Solutions.

Sandra Barlaan BBA12, Stanley Chiang BBA14 , Ben Dodson BBA12, Alex Frumkin BBA14 and Pamela Lim BBA13 secured First Place in the PwC xACT Case Competition at Goizueta. They received $1,000 and consideration for the national finals.

Xiaoyue Joy Chen BBA13, Pamela Lim BBA13 and Jiadong Lin BBA13 represented Goizueta at the 6th annual Nationwide/Fisher College Biz Quiz competition in November at Ohio State University. Eighteen teams were quizzed on six weeks of articles from The Wall Street Journal.

Shreya Adiraju BBA12 and Stephanie Vieira BBA12 participated in the Eller Ethics Case Competition at the University of Arizona in October.  They worked for three weeks on a presentation about how a bank should proceed with either foreclosing or negotiating the principle down for a client facing tough times.

Adam Hamberg BBA12, Manvir Heir BBA12, Ben Schlang BBA12, and Jason Stern BBA12 created a stock pitch for Applied Materials, Inc. at the fourth annual Undergraduate Investment Conference at the Ross School of Business, University of Michigan in October.
